The Avva Baby culinary team loves babies and food. Our chefs are dedicated to preparing fresh baby food with healthy ingredients. Our culinary team is comprised of chefs with a mix catering, restaurant and baby food making experience.
Who cooks the food?
Where is the food prepared?
Avva Baby operates out of our 5,000 square foot, state-of-the art production kitchen in Washington, DC. Our kitchen is certified by the FDA and the Washington, DC Department of health.
How long does the food last?
Our food does not have any preservatives, so like all fresh food, it will expire in a week.
What if my baby does not like something?
This will definitely happen. Babies are finicky, but their taste buds are developing. We encourage parents to try a food multiple times and try different feeding methods (e.g. warm food, mash it further, serve it accompanied by his/her favorite food). Babies’ preferences change from week-to-week so what may not have worked one week, may work another. We’ve included enough choice and volume in your weekly delivery so that if your child does not like something, you can easily move onto the next item.
Can I set up a reoccurring schedule? How often can I modify it?
Avva Baby is a subscription based delivery service; it automatically renews from week to week so that you don’t have to remember to renew it. If you want to modify your order, you have until Tuesday at noon to update your account for the upcoming delivery.
I am going on vacation; can I have my basket delivered to my destination?
Yes. Check our delivery zone and if you are traveling within our delivery zone then update the address in your account page.
Is there a delivery charge?
Delivery is free.
What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel at any time prior to Tuesday at noon of the current week.
When is the cut-off for ordering and customizing my basket?
Tuesday at noon. If you miss the cutoff we’ll just go ahead and send you one of everything.
Can I have my basket delivered on a different day?
Unfortunately not at this time. We are currently working to roll out this feature.
How do I prepare the food?
Our meals are pre-cooked by our amazing kitchen staff, so you don't need to do anything other than portion food out of the jars and serve at the temperature your baby likes. That said … every child has different tastes. Some children like a little milk in theiroats, so as the week goes on some parents add a little prior to heating up the portion. As you discover little tricks like this, Instagram them. We’d love to hear your feeding ideas.
Should I serve out of the jar?
No. You must portion out the food into a separate container for heating and serving in order to avoid cross contamination and food spoilage.
I have feedback. Where can I send it?
We’d love your feedback. Send us an email at email@example.com and we’ll get right on it.
